Zambia is an excellent luxury safari destination that offers superb game viewing, many exciting activities and a rich cultural history which when rolled up together makes the perfect luxury african safari. The climate is mild and pleasant with three distinct seasons - the most popular with tourists being the warmer and wet season between December and March.

Livingstone Airport, which is well connected by both scheduled and light aircraft flights, is situated close to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Around the Falls area the mighty Zambezi River is both scenic and action packed as there are many adrenaline pumping activities on offer here such as white water rafting, bungi jumping and microlight flights over the falls to name but a few. Zambia has some of Africa's finest game parks providing a truly authentic wildlife experience.

There are many luxury hotels and lodges around Victoria Falls and as well as enjoying varying proximity to the falls enable game drives into the Zambezi National Park and more leisurely cruises on the Zambezi. An hour upstream from the Falls the River Club has just ten luxury split level thatched chalets that all open out on to a private balcony overlooking the Zambezi.

Sausage Tree Camp, set in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park, is a luxurious African safari camp. The six billowing Bedouin - style tents that have been erected to give maximum privacy to the occupants, with simple but comfortable furnishings, excellent en-suite facilities and a private viewing deck overlooking the Zambezi.

The South Luangwa National Park is a paradise for bird lovers and at the edge of a seasonal lagoon against the backdrop of the Chindeni Hills is Luangwa Safari House. This exclusive, luxury house has four bedrooms, furnished in locally designed and produced textiles, comfortable lounge area and large plunge pool set into the terrace. With its own dedicated guide and vehicle the house is ideal for family safari accommodation or for a private group.

On the banks of the Luangwa River guests arrive at Nkwali Safari Camp by boat or pontoon, dependant on the season. The camp's bar and lounge area have been constructed around a mighty ebony tree and each of the five luxury chalets are left open fronted during the day to make the most of the views of the river. Elephants and giraffes are plentiful and often seen around the camp. Game viewing activities by boat, vehicle and on foot are complemented but the cultural opportunities to visit Kawaza school and village - a collaboration between the community and Robin Pope Safaris that has been ongoing for more than 20 years.

For a stylish and exclusive safari experience, Chamilandu Camp is set on seven ox-bow lagoons of the Luangwa River. The camp has only three ''tree house'' style rooms that are set high on stilts giving panoramic views of the waterways and its visiting wildlife.

Kafue National Park is the oldest park in Zambia and one of the largest in Africa. Whilst the park's rivers and seasonal floodplain attracts thousands of water birds and are ideal for fishing the permanent wetland of the remote Busanga Plains in the north enjoy huge numbers of plains game and predators including wild dogs. In the centre of Busanga Plains Shumba Camp has six spacious luxury tents set on raised platforms thereby enjoying amazing views of the surrounding landscape.
