Follow your Zig Zag to Success [webdesign4tutorial.blogspot.com]

a short tutorial on how to make a zigzag-ed rectangle in photoshop. Might not be the best/quickest/easiest way to do this, but it's the one I use, and I wanted to help out a friend from forrst. Also this is my first tutorial/screencast ever, so don't be to hard on me :)

So, think about zigging and zagging along your career path rather than attempting to climb straight up. That might mean you take a salary cut to transition to a new field, or you work-study longer into the day or night than your peers. It might mean ... Career Advice from HBR: Zig, Zag, Zoom!

We aren't necessarily going to get a straight line to success, depending on how we define successful, what we are trying to do and what is the matter of success and what is not.

The problem with trying to beeline to success, and get there unchecked by outer forces throughout is the possibility of losing sight of  your options and opportunities that aren't on the preset grid, options which in some cases will not on the preplanned, mapped out plan to success.

Suppose I had been a participant in the gold rush to San Francisco when it had been happening. There may have been spotting of gold, new discoveries of gold that everybody this side of the West Coast was trying to get in on.

However the rush here, might not preclude gold over there and there might have been gold in the next valley over, in another bed of streams and I could panhandle there.

This bee lining to success takes subtle forms in society and could inhibit other opportunities, nominally hidden, while totally focusing on getting the theory right and trying to stabilize things out of a good idea that becomes a paramount idea and iron clad.

A good idea is just that and even if it is the greatest idea, there are other ideas that can be very good as well, not always found oh your own personal timeline of what they might be and where they might be.

Realistically you are not standing in the center of every good opportunity and idea, because you can't be everywhere and you are limited to that one angle view of the moment, from wherever you are actually standing.

I'm only by my dust pan as I'm panning for gold, and all that glitters isn't gold.

And I can be only in that one spot at this time and all that glitters isn't going to be found just where I am.

While yes, you can't be all over the map, real opportunities are out there, un seized because you are content to believe there distance makes them not a viable alternative when a little traveling even a little further in your own world view might get you there.

This also might have to do with imaging and self imaging.  I might perceive myself this way and this working view of me isn't going to work every time out.

For example, I am the successful hard charging executive, or my image tells me.

But this image of myself, isn't going to bring me through every nook and cranny out there, especially if I am off road on my carefully crafted image and  I don't have that ready made image for this divergent pathway.

Being the sharp shooting executive isn't going to bring total play into the plains of Africa or on the misty channels of a hiking expedition in Antarctica

.Determination to see my way through my be less important than sighting the obstacles and stopping before you are overcome by them.

The baseline approach can and should be withheld, and it would be safer and sounder to zig zag around in the wilds rather than taking the straight path filled with obstacles of uncertain magnitude.

The wilds could also be your own thinking, your own mindset, your own imagination, and you find your thinking isn't like a neatly manicured lawn, and you balk at the reality of the other and try to rewire your thinking, imagination and emotions into that straight line, rather than searching out opportunities, ideas, approaches found in the unsettled waters of your own thinking.

So it starts right at home, too much taming of our imagination, thinking, too much subscription to the hard mentality rather than softening to the open ranges of the mind/ too much subscription to the herd mentality of follows the leader, climb this so called ladder if it really is a ladder leaning against any real wall

There is not enough pull back to questioning the state of affairs, and too much forwardness in looking for evidence on this prescribed course of what will be success.

I might comb this field over and over, pan handle this stream over and over, but did I ever stop to at least ponder the question that nodules of success were there and finable elsewhere for me, in the outer spaces of p possibility.

What can be done to avoid these traps?"

One thing to do is to digress to your zig zag and visit your zig zag.

Vary your daily routine, read out of town newspapers online.

Let your imagination roll elsewhere.

Don't just go with what you think will automatically register with you,

Talk with different types of people, not just those who are totally synergistic with you.

Allow the outer reaches of your own imagination to light up a bit.

Make believe that straight line to success is disappearing anyway and with that so is your obligation to it.

Make no road your master, only you are the master of unknown and new and exciting roads that can manifest if you allow a bit.

Let go on always following up that believed to be straight line, visit your zig zag and success may happen there.
